Hoonah SEARHC Clinic

Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) is a non-profit tribal health consortium of 18 Native communities which serves the health interests of Native people in Southeast Alaska. Corvus Design provided landscape architectural and environmental permitting services to develop a new SEARHC clinic in Hoonah. The clinic is the only health care facility in Hoonah, providing services to the Native population and the general public. Building and landscape are integrated into the wooded site to create a positive healing environment linking cultural values and the native landscape. Species selection for plantings focused on traditional healing uses, and the landscape design provided comfortable courtyards and entrances within focal plantings. Our efforts included wetland delineation, programming, master planning, environmental permitting, and landscape design. The clinic is designed for the LEED Certified level.
