Centennial Village Wellness Upgrades

Cook Inlet Housing Authority's goal is "Independence through Housing." Through the development of programs and quality housing, they hope to provide a solid foundation for their constituents to enhance their quality of life. The Centennial Village Campus is a development by the Cook Inlet Housing Authority (CIHA) that provides elder housing in the Muldoon neighborhood of Anchorage. As a result of the campus's growth, Corvus Design provides planning and design services for site amenity upgrades to improve residents' outdoor recreation opportunities. The planning included improving people's movement through the site with additional pedestrian connections, upgrades to allow easier all-season walking and a pedestrian signage plan. Recreation opportunities had a main outdoor recreation space that focused on lawn-type games, social interaction areas, increasing community gardening locations, and providing localized amenity spaces close to buildings currently without them. The initial construction phase included a large community garden area and expansion of the heated sidewalk system.
