Chugachmiut Regional Health Center
Chugachmiut is an Alaska Native non-profit agency that serves the seven Native tribes in the Chugach Region. Landscaping is composed of native or locally adapted species. The landscape design for the building entry is intended to visually soften the front of the building through the use of various rock mulches, boulders, driftwood, and plantings.
The plaza and surrounding area integrate cultural and traditional ideas. The shape of the plaza is influenced by the fiddle head fern, while seven birch trees and seven decorative screen panels represent the seven tribes served by Chugachmiut.
