Wrangell Front Street

Continuing the Downtown Wrangell Revitalization Plan, Corvus Design developed construction documents for a new downtown streetscape with the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities. Work included assisting the development of sidewalk and curb alignments, on-street parking, and identifying pedestrian spaces for site furnishings and landscaping. This effort included decorative layout and finishes for pedestrian sidewalks and plazas, selecting streetscape amenities, and landscape design. The Wrangell area is known for the semi-precious stone garnet, so the decorative finishes for sidewalks included surface seeding them with red-colored glass to look like paths of garnet. These improvements highlight the community's history and culture and help revitalize the community's downtown core and economy. Due to the historic nature of the community, numerous permitting limitations and requirements were met to ensure the success of this project.
