Matanuska-Susitna Borough Visitor Center

The MatSu Visitor Foundation’s flagship project is the Mat-Su Visitor Center: a 10,600 square foot visitor center that will become the first stop for visitors coming from Anchorage. Corvus Design was the landscape architectural firm on the team for the planning and design of this project. Our work included developing multiple site options to ensure that vehicular and pedestrian movement provided a good user experience and the site's overall development as an important facility for locals and visitors alike. The project included areas around the building for education, views, and relaxation and a trail system extending down the bluff's face to the wetlands and creek below. Construction documents included a bid option for a wetland boardwalk to allow people to get out to the creek edge for general viewing and experience the creek’s salmon run. The project is awaiting funding.
