Located on a sloped wooded site overlooking Gastineau Channel, the client had unsuccessfully been able to permit a housing development of single family units. Corvus Design led the master planning and subsequent permitting for a twelve unit housing development that was designed and permitted as a Planned Unit Development. This was a new permitting process for the City and Borough of Juneau and only one other development had been granted approval under this permit. The success of project and permitting was made possible by minimizing environmental impacts, developing common open space and facilities and creating sustainable housing units. The project is permitted for the creation of twelve units of housing, a centralized park and playground, trail system and ample open space to allow the viewing of the surrounding landscape. Corvus Design was the prime leading a team of architects and engineers.
