Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) is a non-profit tribal health consortium of 18 Native communities which serves the health interests of Native people in Southeast Alaska. Corvus Design provided landscape architectural and environmental permitting services for the development of a new SEARHC clinic in Hoonah. The new clinic replaced the only health care facility in Hoonah, providing services to the Native population and also the general public. The facility is integrated into a wooded site to create a positive healing environment and linking cultural values with the native landscape. The landscape utilizes a traditional healing plant material palette surrounding small courtyards and entrances to the facility. Work included wetland delineation, programming, master planning, environmental permitting, and landscape design. The clinic was designed to achieve LEED certification.
