Glory Hole Gardens

Corvus Design provided pro-bono services to Juneau’s homeless shelter and soup kitchen by providing permitting and design services to assist the facility in growing some of its own produce to feed its patrons. The project included the reclamation of unused rooftop space for a vegetable garden and an extensive hillside terrace garden at the rear of the facility. Work included the establishment of a large-scale composting operation to reduce waste and provide soil enhancements for the gardens. All gardening facilities were designed to allow installation and care by the patrons. The project is a massive success for organic food production and providing positive activities for its clients.
