Project Playground

Project Playground at Twin Lakes in Juneau is a labor of love for Juneau. The community built the playground in 2007 through the direct effort of countless hours of community commitment to plan, prepare for, and show up for the build effort. In 2016 the community committed to making the playground more accessible. We provided construction documentation for installing poured-in-place unitary surfacing to allow more effortless movement through the playground and between the play components. Then, in 2017, most of the playground was the victim of arson. Corvus Design led a team of structural, electrical, and civil engineers to develop construction documents for the complete rebuild of Project Playground. We used the original design as a place to start and enhanced it through community input. The project was unique because it adapted a community-build playground delivery method into a hybrid model with full bid documents for contractor-build components to enable more efficient community-build completion.
